Ya Kid K
of the many projects that dominated the charts in the early 90's, few were as popular or with a history of unexpected success as Technotronic. Emerging from Belgium - which is not exactly a musical cradle - the multicultural group helped transport the deep bass grooves and the insistence beat of the music club house to mainstream pop , ironically I managed to hide under the cover long photogenic of a fashion model of African origin, which was released after not participating in the recordings. Technotronic actually is the creation of Jo Bogaert (Thomas de Quincy his real name), an American philosophy professor who moved to Belgium in the 80's with the hope of becoming a music producer. What I was trying to merge Bogaert house with hip hop and to that end sent demos to several rappers, including MC Eric Welsh and Zaire adolescete Ya Kid K (Manuela Kamosi), the then Belgian group member rap Fresh Beat Productions. of Techtronic, "Pump Up the Jam" 1989 was a devastating hit in Europe and later in the U.S.. UU. While recording you can hear the rap of Ya Kid K, she does not appear in the video, but instead appears Zaire model Felly doing playback, the fans did not imagine that Felly not approached the studio and not really speak a word of English. At the Conservatory of Music in Quebec (Canada) in 1994, Byron Mikaloff (former One Ton and Bunka Busta) and Christian Roberge, began a friendship that has led them to collaborate on various musical projects. After many years of acting as a duo, the two friends founded The Lost Fingers (Fingers lost) in 2004. With the intention to continue developing and innovating, joined the group the young and talented bass Alex Morissette in 2006. In an exercise of musical knowledge combined with a keen sense of humor, the trio decided to combine their unique voices to create a witty homage to the 80's with the gypsy swing style jazz manouche "inspired by his mentor, Django Reinhardt, and culminated in the publication of his wonderful debut album Lost In The 80's.
With an air of gypsy jazz, the songs sound disc Technotronic (Pump Up the Jam), Bon Jovi (You Give Love a Bad Name), AC / DC (You Shook Me All Night Long), Céline Dion (Incognito), Samantha Fox (Touch Me), Stevie Wonder (Part-Time Lover), Kool & the Gang (Fresh), Michael Jackson (Bilie Jean), George Michael ( Careless Whisper), Soft Cell (Tainted Love), Paula Abdul (Straight Up) and Alanna Myles (Black Velvet). Stimulating music, pleasant, beautifully sung and played, surprising. One of the hidden jewels that each season brings us to rejoice in life. In the first week of its release on 6 May 2008, the first edition of Lost In The 80's were sold out in Quebec. Eight weeks at No. 1 in the local and reaching number 2 in the national top in three months reached platinum in Canada and was the biggest selling debut artist of his country in 2008.
